The seriousness of our daily lives can bring you down, if you aren’t careful. One minute you are sitting there at your work PC, and the next you are being brought tot the loonie bin because you snapped.
Well, most of us can cope with the pressure of life a little better than that.
I work at a very stressful job, and I sometimes feel the strain that this stress brings. Lately, however, I have discovered a nice little “out” to the stress – I have begun to make up funny stories {at least, I thing that they are funny}. I have been posting these stories on the Home page of this website for everyone to enjoy {at least I enjoy them}.
I am discovering that a little foolishness can take away the stress and strain that comes with a stressful job, being a parent of two small (grumpy) kids, and being a husband. The process of sitting, blanking out my mind, and allowing the funny thoughts to come to the front is very therapeutic.
And now, the Foolishness:
Breaking news out of Bishop Falls this afternoon – Exploits River salmon have voted to start a union, and their first meeting ended with a resolution to call on the provincial government to change the fish ladders at the dam to more modern fish escalators.
Too foolish? Maybe, but it does play into my views on how unions have a limited roles in today’s society.
Oh on! I am getting political and serious.
Back to the unionized salmon….
Salmon spokesman, Cecil Tailfin, told UpAlong News, “Blub, blub-blub. Snort. Blub.”
We have no idea what that means, but wish to let everyone know that Mr. Tailfin tasted very well poached.
Is that a joke??
Tall Tales
Everyone loves a tall tale every now. Remember Paul Bunion? That was a good one.
Every heard of Bayman Joe? Me neither, till a few moments ago. Let me tell you all about Bayman Joe.
Bayman Joe was one hell of a fisherman. He would go out in his dory and be back within an hour with the darn thing loaded down to the gunnels. He’d clean the fish and have it salted in time to make a late-morning run to his trawl, which provided enough fish to load his dory down once more.
Wait a minute. That’s not a tall tale, and that ain’t Bayman Joe. That’s my grandfather 25 years ago. You know, when there was actually some fish in the water.
Opps, here I go with the seriousness again.
Well, maybe we can have a little fun with life, or, rather, maybe we SHOULD have a little fun with life.
What do you think?
