Bio: It's pretty simple: rock musician (guitar and organ) in my younger days in 1970's Montreal, followed by 22 years in dark little editing suites at the CBC in Toronto. Don't ask how I made that somewhat bizarre transition.
Got married to Cheryl back in 1988, became a Christian the same year, although these are, as you know, kind of lifelong projects (both marriage and trying our best to follow the Lord) I knew I was in for something different when she came to my door to adopt a cat I was giving away. She was wearing a winter overcoat with a framed (yes, oval wooden frame, like you see in the parlour) picture of Jesus sewn to the front. She used it as a conversation starter on the Toronto subway.
Cheryl and I did music evangelism outdoors in southern Ontario for 10 years, 1990 til 2000. We had a sound system that ran on marine batteries, so we could set up anywhere anywhere the Spirit led. We played fairs, beaches, street festivals, the Toronto airport, subway, you name it. A friend of ours called David (now gone to Glory, I trust) came with us and gave out thousands of Gospel tracts. God rest his soul.
When we came on holiday to Newfoundland for the first time in 2001, Cheryl and I both fell in love with the Rock, we bought a little house out around the bay (Champneys, Trinity Bay), I quit the CBC, bought my own camera and editing gear, moved out here in 2003.
Been going nuts ever since. Done about 90 items for NTV, a couple of dozen music videos, half a dozen DVDs, which I sell in lots of stores and online at shopdownhome.com and tidespoint, com.
One DVD, called "A Journey Into Wonder on the Bonavista Peninsula" has sold about 3000 copies (two chapters of are posted on the Youtube channel as a sample). There's 10 chapters in all. If ya wants da whole ting, I'll send ya one for 15 bucks... just email me.
I still write some Christian folkrockish type music, have done videos for half a dozen of them, posted on Youtube. I have a 10-track CD of same, called "Fishers of Men".
Cheryl, who sings and plays keyboards and violin, was the prime mover behind another CD we've done called "Hymns of the Sea". It has 20 wonderful hymns, all of which have maritime or nautical type connections in the lyrics! Wonderful songs, all.
